During the months of January and February 2014, summer in the region of the Atacama Desert, the driest in the world, one of the engineers of AGS-PMC, in collaboration with GE MULTILIN, has successfully completed the protection testing for the startup of ‘San Andrés’ electrical substation.

The substation connects a photovoltaic plant of 50MW with the power lines of Cardones and Carrera Pinto and it´s located about 30km around the city of Copiapo in the north of Chile, where the main economic activity of the area is mining. For energize the substation, it was correctly done the protection relay testing of lines (L90), distance (D60), transformer (T60), busbar (B90) and the MV part – PV Plant with F650.

The difficulties encountered during the project were resolved, settling with the requirements of the customer, participating in the construction and commissioning of the substation in a few months, a time record.
