During the month of January 2015, summer in the region of the Atacama Desert, the driest in the world, one of the engineers of AGS-PMC, has worked with GE MULTILIN staff, to complete the protection testing for the startup of ‘San Pedro III’ electrical substation.
The substation connects a photovoltaic plant of 30MW ampliable to 70MW with the substation of the city of Calama in the north of Chile, where the main economic activity of the area is mining.

For energize the substation, it was correctly done the protection relay testing of lines (L90), distance (D60), transformer (T60), busbar (B30) and the MV part – PV Plant with F650.

The difficulties encountered during the project were resolved, settling with the requirements of the customer, participating in the construction and commissioning of the substation in a few months, a time record.
