AGS, in collaboration with GE MULTILIN and GE OIL & GAS, has performed the start-up of protection panel of one generator unit in TUPRAS refinery facilities located in Körfez city, Kocaeli province (Turkey).
For this purpose, it was carried on the primary tests commissioning of Generator Control and Protection Panel (GCPP) of the steam turbine included in combined cycle plant installed in this refinery. This steam turbine will be used to produce electric energy and getting low pressure steam which will be reintroduced in the production process.
TUPRAS launched the RUP project at the Izmit refinery in 2011 in order to process low value fuel oil into valuable hydrocarbons. The project was initiated in 2008 and it is intended to invest approximately US $ 1.6 billion.
